  • What kind of organization is APW?

    APW is a U.S. registered, 501(C) 3 non-profit organization dedicated to village-based wildlife conservation and community development in Africa.

  • Where is APW based?

    Our U.S. office is located in Bernardsville, New Jersey. In Africa, our regional headquarters are located in northern Tanzania at the Noloholo Environmental Center.

  • Where does APW work?

    APW currently focuses its place-based efforts within Tanzania and its extension services throughout East Africa. For more detailed information see our pages on focal sites and for more information on Tanzania, click here (outside link).

  • What programs is APW working on?

    We believe an integrated approach is crucial for successful village-based conservation and development. Therefore, APW supports a portfolio of programs including environmental and conservation education, human-wildlife conflict prevention, environmentally-friendly business enterprises and more.   • What are the main problems and issues that APW is working on?

    APW is addressing the complicated issues that arise when local communities and large wildlife populations share a landscape. Our main purpose is to help build the capacity of rural Africans to engage in environmental conservation and sustainable livelihood strategies that promote the dual objectives of biodiversity conservation and poverty alleviation.

    Continued support and growing awareness of our cause and initiatives is crucial to the success of our programs and organizational development. Due to remote areas in which APW focuses, 4WD vehicles are crucial to our daily work and the ability to expand our programs. Items that we need are:
