Mwambesi Wildlife Conservation Concession

In southern Tanzania, within the Selous-Niassa Ecosystem, APW is working with six villages to establish a large wildlife conservation area for the protection of elephants, wild dogs, sable antelope and other important species. Located in an economically impoverished region of Tanzania, this concession area will bring development opportunities through wildlife-based tourism to the villagers, while simultaneously safe-guarding important wildlife habitat. Already, local game scouts have reduced incidences of deforestation, poaching and illegal fishing while receiving increased employment opportunities from a tourism company.
