Village Game Scout Training

Since the inception of this project in 2007, APW has facilitated the training of 30 village game scouts at the Likuyu Community Based Conservation Training Center. Participating in a six week course, the game scouts receive training in the following subjects: (1) national laws and procedures regulating conservation in Tanzania, (2) national laws relating to wildlife use, forestry, fishing and bee-keeping activities, (3) general wildlife/natural resource ecology, research and the sustainable use of forest products, (4) accounting basics, (5) administration and leadership skills and (6) firearms and first aid skills. Our game scouts are now actively protecting wildlife and natural habitats in southern Tanzania.

In 2010, training opportunities will be facilitated for our village partners in the Maasai steppe.

How Can I Help?
Village game scouts greatly appreciate donations of tents, sleeping bags, binoculars and GPS – all items which help them in their dedicated efforts to protect wildlife!
